Axus Technology Adds Edge Grinding Process

Chandler, AZ - May 04, 2011 – Axus Technology, a global leader in leading-edge CMP and wafer thinning solutions, has expanded its existing CMP, substrate polishing, and wafer grinding services by adding edge grinding process and services offered at its
Chandler, AZ facility.

Edge grinding is commonly used on finished wafers and when multiple wafers are bonded together to recreate the bull-nose profile after processing to help eliminate problems with wafer handling and to diminish potential debris from wafer particles. The process is also used to create custom-sized wafers for specific end-user or third-party foundry requirements and integration of edge profiling and edge surface trimming for higher bond yield.

Axus Technology offers a full range of wafer thinning, grinding, and polishing services for use in semiconductor and related applications. Adding the edge grinding process to their services portfolio allows them to provide complete material processing and wafer foundry services to their customers.

"The combination of our CMP and grinding expertise together with our wafer bonding and equipment engineering capability, allows us to apply proven technologies to both current and novel applications," stated Dan Trojan, Vice President of Engineering. "Adding edge grinding complements the combined production thinning and polishing services that many of our customers are using for advanced substrate and 3-D packaging applications."
